Individual Therapy
For individuals we will work to build on the strengths, talents and passions you possess. We will work together to find purpose in the midst of life transitions and improve self-esteem and confidence. It is my goal for you to take away from our sessions a greater ability to self-reflect, learn to enjoy life more, build stronger fulfilling relationships and find freedom from anxiety and depression.
Women’s Issues
There are many life transitions women find themselves moving through including college, single life, relationships, marriage, birth, child-rearing, career choices, hormonal changes, menopause, empty nest, care or loss of parents, retirement and aging. I work together with my female clients to find purpose in the midst of these transitions. As a mature women, I draw from my own transitions and life experiences as well as from working with many women over the years, both single and married.
Men’s Issues
With a good understanding of the issues men face, I help my clients navigate through the various stages of life including college, single life, relationships, marriage, child-rearing, career choices, job changes, midlife changes, care or loss of parents, retirement and aging. I work together with my clients to find purpose in the midst of these transitions. I have worked with many men through all stages of life and have gained much from my own life experiences of growing up with brothers, from being married for 30 years and raising three sons.
Family Therapy
I have gained much experience over the years working with families at all stages of life by helping them build stronger relationships, supporting them through life transitions, or issues they may be facing. I often suggest bringing the whole family into therapy together, whether they are a young family with children, a middle age family with adolescents, or a grown family with adult children wanting to mend or strengthen their relationships. Whether working with the whole family, a partial unit or an individual my aim is to form stronger attachments.
In addition to my Counseling Psychology MA, I hold a Child Development BA degree. I have raised three adult children, who have taught me valuable lessons in parenting. I help families cope with stress, communicate better, form a greater understanding of each other, express anger appropriately, and learn to forgive each other. I provide counseling for issues such as, families adjusting to a son’s or daughters leaving for college, grief and loss, rebuilding trust after recovery from alcohol, healing and adjustment after divorce, forming attachments as a blended family, offering support for families with special needs children, aging parents. mental challenges or physical illness.
